Become an

Artist-in-Residence

at Made My Wardrobe

We are looking for professional artists who would like to come and share our textile studio with us. When we are teaching workshops at weekends the studio is busy and bubbling, during the week we have more space than we need. We would like to share our space with fellow professional artists Monday - Friday 9am till 6pm. We can host two artists at the same time, ideally one local and one international. We ask for a small contribution towards the running of the studio; in return you can use the space for your creative practice as you wish. You are welcome to use our domestic and industrial sewing machines - we have straight stitch, overlock and coverstitch machines available. We also have many other pieces of sewing equipment such as a pleating machine, cutting mat and rotary cutters, iron & ironing board, set squares and rulers, mannequins etc. We have huge cutting tables and can offer a small amount of storage space for you to keep your work whilst you are here. If you would like to teach a workshop in your respective skill during your residency we would love that too.

Our Studio

Our studio is bang in the heart of Bristol, overlooking a tranquil green square filled with natural light. Bristol has creativity community and DIY culture running through its veins. In this city walls are covered in art from street to sky and there is always a whole host of inspiring events, exhibitions and music nights to enjoy, no matter what time of year you come.

Bristol is also a great place to explore the South West of the UK. Whilst on your residency you can easily pop over to South Wales, North Devon or head further south to Cornwall.

If you are visiting Bristol from further afield we can help you find somewhere to stay - just let us know in your application.
