Intro To Screen Printing - 17/7/25
We have loved teaming up with bespoke textile artist and screen printer Jessie De Salis over the last few years. Normally, we offer three-day Screen Print and Sew Retreats which include two days of sewing in the Made My Wardrobe studio. This one-day workshop focuses solely on screen printing - so it’s perfect if you want to try out screen printing your own fabric, which you can then turn into clothes or homeware when you get home.
Nestled away in a barn on her family farm in Yarlington, Somerset, Jessie will give you a rich introduction to the screen printing process and teach you the skills you need to print your own fabric. There will be the option to use Jessie’s existing motifs and designs - or you can create your own shapes entirely.
After a day of screen printing, you are welcome to make use of the private pool next to Jessie’s barn and enjoy a dip in the sunshine!
When: Thursday 17th July 2025, 10.30am till 5pm
Where:
Jessie De Salis’s Studio, Yarlington House, Yarlington, Somerset, BA9 8DY. If you are coming by public transport we can pick you up from Castle Cary Train station, or we can arrange lift shares from Bristol.
Whats included?
A full introduction to screen printing using a range of tools and equipment
1.5m of sustainably sourced fabric to use for your final design plus extra fabric to practice screen printing on.
A homemade lunch using locally-sourced ingredients
Access to the outdoor pool
Intimate class size with lots of space for discussion and creativity
Meet Your Teachers:
The screen printing will be taught by Bristol born and bred textile designer and screen printer Jessie De Salis. Jessie studied in Falmouth and Manchester School of Art before returning to her home town to launch a screen printing business. She set up (quite a DIY) studio in an old barn that she rents from her grandparents in Somerset. Inside is a 10-metre long print table where she prints fabrics, cushions, curtains and lampshades - each piece is completely unique and tells its own story.
