This is a great place for beginners to start their sewing journey. Bring along a pile of clothes that need fixing and our repair experts Lisa and Daryl will show you a whole range of repair focussed sewing techniques. We will get you confident threading up a using a sewing machine to do repairs that will last the test of time. We will also show you a range of hand sewing techniques that can provide both functional mends and be decorative additions to your garments.

Lisa will also have a range of Rebel Patches for you to choose from. Rebel Patch creates limited edition art patches to repair, up-cycle and customise your clothes. If you would like to use a Rebel Patch to fix one of your items of clothing you can choose one from the beautiful collection and purchase it on the night.

What will be included:

• Threading up and using a sewing machine

• Fixing buttons and button holes, replacing zips, patching holes, covering stains & many more useful alterations

• Creating mini patchworks to reinforce worn areas and add new designs to garments that feel tired

• A range of threads, buttons, zips and closures to fix your garments

• In depth demonstrations from our mending experts, both on the sewing machine and by hand

Who: Lisa Matzi is a multi disciplinary designer and founder of Rebel Patch, making limited edition art patches. Her goal is to empower people to build a deeper relationship with their clothes through repair and upcycling. Every patch extends the life of a piece of clothing and supports the artist who created it.

Daryl Hooper is a textile artist and visible mender and founder of Thrawan. She has been darning socks since she was eight after being taught to knit and sew by her Gran. She loves bringing her teaching skills into a community and collaboration realm, in doing so she endeavours to support others to feel empowered in their own creative skills of sewing and repair.

What is your cancellation policy?

• If you can no longer attend a workshop, please let us know as far in advance as possible. We can usually re-sell your place and give you a 75% refund, but we cannot guarantee this if you cancel at the last minute.
